A sports media ? What if we talked about cybersecurity ?

Malware

Is your cybersecurity endangered when the Olympic Games are coming in France ? Indeed, when a country hosts one of these events, it is often hit by attacks aiming to steal and crypt people's personnal information, in order to sell it or ask for money in exchange of the decryptng key. These attacks, often from strangers, are permitted because of security flaws, making your device and your network weak. It happens when the user opens an unknown and/or suspicious mail, sometimes hiding a virus that just hides in your device's system, then steals all of the infrmation and delete it from your device, in order to be the only one to have it. It can steal everything, from your personnal information to your bank account, or even your location. It was this way that, in 2022, a lot of health etablishments got attacked and lost all of their patient's and employee's data, secret or not.
So, yes, these attacks are multiplying when the Olympic Games are approaching, and even more now that the internet is accessible from everywhere and 24/7, but they are also easy to avoid :

  • Do not open mails from unknown and/or suspicious sources
  • Do not open your mails at work, unless you want to break your whole establishment's network
  • Keep some paper versions of your information, just in case it would be stolen. .This way, you can't lose it.
  • Do not share your personnal information with sources you are not sure that are serious and trust worthy, and if you don't really need it.
  • Orgainzation : What you don't know !
