AI's impact in education

Artificial intelligence is also used by pupils and students, particularly in design schools. At the École nationale supérieure de création industrielle in Paris, a class of around fifteen students has begun training in the use of generative artificial intelligence in design with trainer and designer Étienne Mineur. During this training, students learn to use A.I. tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, and Lensa.

In art and design schools, students use A.I. to create drafts, allowing them to produce more precise work and save time during the design process. In addition, teachers can use A.I. to prepare lessons or assist with assessment. In schools, administrative staff also use it, but only if they understand its uses and challenges. Schools must also provide children with the tools to understand and properly use this technology, which is easily accessible. At Lycée Rémi Belleau, an A.I. class has been created to train high school students in the proper use of artificial intelligence.

Despite these precautions, the effects of A.I. on students are not always positive. Among many middle and high school students, there has been a decline in concentration, learning efficiency, and language and logical-mathematical skills due to the increasing use of this new tool. There has also been an increase in physical and verbal violence and even sexist stereotypes, despite the moral guidance provided by teaching staff.
