The impact of the eating and the production over the Health

Grasshopper skewers, sautéed scarabs, worms in salad ... Whether we like it or not, this is what our plates will contain in a few years. Our little friends, despite appearances, edible, and against all odds, they are even a refined met in some countries.

Only, have you ever wondered what impact on our health would have these little animals and their productions if we ate them?

Do not worry, I do not prepare you a (boring) SVT course on insect constitution. What I am going to tell you has the merit of being both educational, fun and effective.

Eating insects: benefits?

Because yes, there are. Maybe you're afraid of cockroaches, ants or spiders. Oh, they tell me in the ear that spiders are not insects but arachnids. Sorry. Still, the insects have unsuspected virtues, which go as far as to defy those of fish or beef.

Speaking of cows, a study proved that 9 times less protein could be obtained than in insects. In the same way, our six-legged friends are a very good source of vitamins and minerals. They therefore have an excellent quantity / size ratio.

Another argument that will please the women who read: An insect contains about 16% fat, compared with 48% in a cow. Sorry ladies, but if your primary goal is to have a balanced diet, you will have to make buddy-buddy with the bugs. Tell yourself it's for the good cause.

Oh, by the way. Do not panic if you've stalled a bit so far. I also have in stock arguments that do not require to get out of numbers. Let's take a simple example but that still has its importance: IT IS GOOD! The insects, when cooked, have a very good taste, which explains their success in countries such as Cambodia, India or Nepal.

In short, overcome your prejudices: insects are our friends!

The bad sides

Unfortunately, eating insects is not just an advantage. Yes, that would be too good. There must be some harmful sides otherwise it would not be funny.

Already, just like the elephant with its tusks or the tiger with its claws, the insect has a morphology that allows it to protect itself, like thorns or a carapace to any test. So do not be surprised if you hurt yourself by crunching a little beast a little hard and spicy. I warned you: eating insects is a sport of extreme.

Then, it may seem obvious, but insects also eat. So no, I'll stop you right now, they do not study to know if eating the human would be beneficial for their health. But still, they can ingest a good amount of not good stuff, which is a major problem. Some of the substances that insects store are toxic, and therefore harmful to humans. Add to this that we do not yet know how to differentiate edible insects from others. Problem, eh?

Finally, we'll get a little scared. Imagine an insect. So far so good. Nearly. Now imagine that this insect carries with it several parasites, bacteria and viruses having only one and only goal: to contaminate you. Well for most insects, this is the case. Charming.

Charmant.

Bienvenue dans mon restaurant !

Je suis le chef de ce restaurant hors du commun.

Ici, nous ne servons que des plats à base d'insectes. Je tente de vous expliquer à travers ces pages pourquoi.
